After learning Sal Sunseri is leaving following just one season with the Florida Gators, head coach Dan Mullen appears to have one name in line for the open position. Mullen is “strongly considering” hiring former Philadelphia Eagles defensive line coach Chris Wilson, according to FootballScoop.

Wilson served as the co-defensive coordinator under Mullen at Mississippi State from 2010-12 but lost that title following the 2012 season with Geoff Collins taking over. He chose to move over to coach the defensive line at Georgia (2013), and he later coached at USC (2014-15) before joining the Eagles (2016-18), with whom he won a Super Bowl last season. Philadelphia decided to part ways with Wilson after the 2018 campaign.

Though he has spent the last three seasons in the NFL — similar to Sunseri before Mullen brought him back to college — Wilson has 23 years of collegiate coaching and recruiting experience. He also has experience coaching special teams and began his career as a linebackers coach.

Wilson has southern ties having been born in Texas and played at Oklahoma.
