Just days after rising to No. 4 nationally in the 247Sports Composite team rankings, the Florida Gators’ upcoming recruiting class has taken a hit. Florida is now No. 7 in the Class of 2020 rankings after four-star running back Keyvone Lee (Clearwater, FL) decommitted from the Gators on Friday.
Lee, who was the second-highest rated player in Florida’s class as the No. 98 prospect in the country, is the second player to leave the Gators over the last few days. Three-star defensive end Josh Griffis (Bradenton, FL) came to the same decision on Wednesday. Three-star quarterback Anthony Richardson (Gainesville, FL) also left the class earlier this month.
Now ranked with the No. 7 class in the nation, Florida still has 10 months until the early signing period and nearly a full year until the next National Signing Day.
The Gators are hot after some of the best players in the nation with two of their top targets appearing to trend orange and blue. Five-star RB Demarkcus Bowman (Lakeland, FL) and four-star QB Carson Beck (Jacksonville, FL) are two of the top players at their respective positions nationally, and both are currently projected to go to Florida.
Head coach Dan Mullen just hauled in the Gators’ first top 10 class since 2014. The team has not had a top five recruiting class since 2013.
