The Florida #Gators’ top target in the Class of 2021, four-star guard Kowacie Reeves, Jr. (Macon, GA) verbally committed to the program on Thursday. Reeves, who announced his decision in a 90-second video published on Twitter, is a combo guard and one of the top shooters in his class.

The 6-foot-5, 170-pound wing committed to Florida over Stanford and Georgia Tech, though he had more than 20 Division I scholarship offers. Those were his finalists as Reeves heavily prioritized academics in addition to athletics when evaluating his options.

He is ranked as the No. 67 overall player in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite, but is expected to see his rating boosted in an upcoming rankings release. Reeves is seen as a shooter with a sweet release, and he averaged 21 points per game for Westside High School. He is also aggressive defensively and an effort rebounder.

“Thanks to all the coaches that recruited me and to everyone that has helped me throughout the process,” he wrote on Twitter. “Your time and interest in my future is much appreciated. This is just the beginning, see you soon. I love you all!”

The Gators have been on Reeves since May 2018, so his commitment Thursday was a culmination of nearly two years of recruiting. He is the lone member of Florida’s 2021 class, which now ranks third in the SEC and 19th nationally (11th among classes with only one commitment).
