» Advancing to the 2010 NCAA Tournament semifinals for the 20th time in the last 24 years, the No. 3 Florida Gators women’s tennis team (28-2) swept the No. 11 Miami Hurricanes (20-6) 4-0 on Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, GA. The No. 5 doubles pair of senior Marrit Boonstra and freshman Allie Will defeated the No. 6 Miami pairing 7-6 DNF; both No. 65 Boonstra and No. 8 Will also won their singles matches. No. 9 freshman Lauren Embree was impressive in her victory over No. 7 Laura Vallverdu, winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Florida will face no. 2 North Carolina (30-4) on Monday at 1 p.m. for a chance to advance to the championship game.

» As if the media’s obsession with Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Tim Tebow had not previously reached a peak – it has now. ESPN.com has just unveiled a “Tim Tebow Tracker” for its unique Tebow Watch page. It is not yet filled with much content (mostly things you have read elsewhere – cough, cough), but as the offseason progresses it should get filled up quite nicely. You can check it out by clicking here.

Four more BITS on the SEC commissioner’s contract, a honor for Emmitt Smith, golf advancing and baseball losing its regular season finale…after the jump!

» The Clarion-Ledger is reporting that Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive took home $2.1 million for the last fiscal year, according to Internal Revenue Service documents acquired by the paper. Slive earned a $1 million bonus on top of his salary partly because of the huge television contract he helped the conference sign during the year. “We were pleased with what all he had done to put us in a strong position,” SEC president Lee Todd, who holds the same position for the University of Kentucky, told the paper.

» Former Gators running back Emmitt Smith will be the subject of one of ESPN’s next Homecoming shows, a new feature introduced by the network this year. Hosted by Rick Reilly, the program will be taped on Thursday, June 3 at Escambia High School in Pensacola, FL. Because the event will be taped in front of a live audience, tickets are complimentary and can be obtained by clicking here, registering and signing up. Smith’s episode will air on ESPN on Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. and on ABC on Aug. 7 at 4 p.m. If any of OGGOA‘s readers are planning on attending, please let us know as we are looking for a special correspondent.

» No. 4/6 Florida men’s golf has qualified for the 2010 NCAA Championship for the 10th consecutive season after coming in third at the NCAA Central Regional, which concluded on Saturday. A final score of 838 (-2) gave the Gators their shot at the title, head coach Buddy Alexander’s 22nd in his 23 years with the program. Their quest will take place June 2-5 in Chattanooga, TN.

» Having already lost the 2010 SEC Championship to No. 4 Florida baseball (40-13, 22-8 SEC), the No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks (43-13, 21-9 SEC) were able to win the final contest of their three-game series with the Gators, completing an 11-6 victory on Saturday. Though the loss ended Florida’s seven-game winning streak, it came with a lot of the Gators’ starters out of action and resting for the 2010 SEC Tournament set to begin on Wednesday. UF will face defending national champion LSU (36-20, 14-16 SEC) in first-round action.
