When former Florida Gators quarterback Chris Leak resigned as head football coach at Edgewater High School earlier this week, the assumed reason was the team’s 0-5 start and overall poor play on the field. However, a report Wednesday from the Orlando Sentinel notes that Leak is currently under investigation for sexual assault of a 16-year-old student.

Leak, 31, has not been charged at this time for an alleged assault that occurred on Sept. 5.
According to the Sentinel, which cites the police report, the alleged incident began when Leak asked the girl for a massage and exited a shower wearing just a towel. The massage began with the back of his legs and moved to the front, at which point Leak allegedly pulled the girl’s hands up onto his genitals. The incident came to a conclusion after Leak allegedly called the girl, bought her food and took her home. When he found out she told a friend about the incident, Leak allegedly paid that friend $100.

A national title-winning quarterback with the Gators in 2006, Leak never caught on in the NFL but held stints in the Canadian Football League and Arena Football League. He served as a graduate assistant-turned-wide receivers coach at Florida in 2014 but was not retained when the coaching staff turned over.

Leak lives in Orlando and is married with two young daughters.
