Vols’ Richardson, Edwards permanently dismissed

After declining comment every single day since the incident was made public, Tennessee Volunteers head coach Lane Kiffin has decided to permanently dismiss freshmen wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson and cornerback Mike Edwards from the team. Richardson, Edwards and CB Janzen Jackson were arrested last Thursday morning on three counts of armed robbery after using a air-powered pellet gun to rob a customer outside a Pilot convenience store in Knoxville, TN.

Below is the University of Tennessee‘s official statement:

University of Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin announced Monday that freshman wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson and defensive back Mike Edwards have been permanently dismissed from the football team.

“After extensive and thorough research of the situation over the last four days and considering various disciplinary options, I’ve decided it’s in the best interest of our program to remove Nu’Keese and Mike,” Kiffin said. “As I’ve said many times before, we hold our student-athletes to an extremely high standard on and off the field. Our student-athletes must be responsible members of society, and this type of conduct will not be tolerated.

“We want a positive culture for our student-athletes that allows them to succeed in the classroom, on the field, and in life after college. My hope is that these two young men will learn from their terrible decision. Clearly, their actions have no place in our program.”

Janzen Jackson will continue to not be allowed to participate in team activities while Kiffin awaits additional information.

OGGOA will continue reporting on this story as more information becomes available.

Man, I really need to read my posts or get an edit button.

What about Janzen Jackson? Im sure they are going to play the “he didn’t know”card. Small exception is that he told them they had to leave, got back into a car that just robbed people at gunpoint and Im sure he had no idea they planned to do it as they pulled into the gas station…..right. Just because you didn’t kill the person but helped cover it up doesn’t make you innocent there Kiff dog. How about you grow a sack and boot Jackson off the team as well?

  2. I held your other comment because I figured you just wanted the correct version posted.

  3. I have no problem with Kiffin waiting on deciding on Jackson. Though just for being there (even if he didn’t know) he should be out until next season.

Well, one thing is for sure, if Kiffin decides to keep the 5 star recruit and starter Janzen Jackson and then it comes out in the wash that he really WAS invovled but recieved preferred treatment, you can say goodbye to Mr Kiffin!! Especially in light of Jacksons recent suspension that was reported to have been a failed drug test and then with there being marijuana in the car with the girl. At 2:00 am. In my opinion, this whole thing sounds drug related. Anyway, I’m sure that the Judge has ordered Richardson and Edwards not to talk about the case but that wont last forever! Sooner or later, one or both will tell the whole story…

I am sure all of this is out of Kiffin’s hands anyways….my guess is enough will come out that Jackson will get the boot as well….guess Kiffin will be changing his speeches not to brag about how clean a program he is running!!!!!
