When things make their way from the stands into the outfield, usually they are baseballs being thrown back from visiting team home runs or the occasional piece of trash from an unruly fan. Neither was the case on Saturday at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.

With No. 1 Florida Gators baseball in the process of winning its second game during an expected opening-weekend sweep of the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, UF student Bobby Floyd accidentally dropped his smartphone into the outfield.

Lucky for Floyd, his phone fell right by Gators junior left fielder Ryan Larson, who not only returned the phone but made sure Floyd knew who was doing him the favor by snapping a shot of himself with his back turned to home plate.

Floyd told OnlyGators.com on Sunday that he dropped his phone between innings of Saturday’s game, which Florida won 8-4 over Florida Gulf Coast. The photo was just one highlight of Larson’s evening as the outfielder went 4-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and three runs scored.

Hat tip to UF website writer Scott Carter for retweeting the photo.
