FOUR BITS: Tebow, Knight, lacrosse, Moreno

1 » Buffalo Bills head coach and former Florida Gators quarterback Chan Gailey, who incidentally hired defensive coordinator George Edwards away from his alma mater, spoke about QB Tim Tebow while at the 2010 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, IN. “Habits are not changed over a short amount of time; habits are changed over long periods of time and many reps,” Gailedy told the Palm Beach Post. “If you’re going to change somebody, it will take time to do that. If he thinks it’s a weakness, and he thinks he needs to work on it, and he thinks he needs to change, that should help him be a stronger player down the line. If he didn’t think it was a wekness and he’s doing it for somebody else, then it’ll make him a weaker player.” Interesting perspective.

2 » Five-star shooting guard Brandon Knight (Fort Lauderdale, FL) told the 560 WQAM’s Joe Rose on Thursday that he is nearing a decision on his commitment. “I took all my visits so far,” Knight said. “Right now, I’m just sitting back weighing the pros and cons of each school. I’m hoping to make my decision pretty soon. […] I want to be able to win wherever I go, feel comfortable on and off the court and have a good relationship with the coach.” Knight is considering Florida, Kentucky, Kansas, UConn and Miami-FL.

3 » Kudos to ESPNU for profiling the strong start of the Gators lacrosse program. In a special to the site, Patrick Carney put together a nice piece that includes a profile of head coach Amanda O’Leary and information on how the program came to fruition at Florida with the help of athletic director Jeremy Foley.

4 » Former Georgia Bulldogs running back Knowshon Moreno, now with the Denver Broncos, allegedly punched University of Georgia freshman Stephen Anderson, 18, in the face Saturday night, according to a police report. Interestingly, just days after filing the charges, Anderson has recanted his story and chosen not to press charges.

Adam- Tim was on NFL Total Access tonight live and they asked him about what he will and won’t do. He said “I’m going to come out and compete and run, I’mnot going to throw” so that sounds to me like he will be doing some of the drills…

  2. Thanks for the update. I was not around a TV at 7 and was wondering what he would be saying on there. Good catch.

Hey Adam….sorry to change the subject…not sure where to post my random questions…I haven’t heard much about Jelani Jenkins in a long time. What’s his deal/story? Do you think he will compete for a starting spot this year? As a five-star gem commit I would think that unless there is an injury, he should be in the mix this spring.

  4. No problem. This is fine. I’ll start doing an OGGOA mailbag bi-weekly.

My guess is that Lorenzo Edwards, Brandon Hicks and A.J. Jones will be the starters.

Jelani Jenkins, Jon Bostic and either Brendan Beal or Lerentee McCray will be the second-stringers. McCray was converted to DE in 2009 but may switch back – may not.

  5. Mark01 says:

I hear Bostic is a stud. I’ll have to check him out in the spring game

  6. dp says:

Thanks…I guess it also depends on which defensive scheme Austin decides upon (3-4, 4-3, 3-3-5, etc.)

  7. Drew 4 Orange & Blue says:

As good as Bostic played as a frosh I like his chances to start

My jaw STILL drops when I scan over that “2010 Football Commitments” list on the right. What a haul.
