While recruiting did not go as swimmingly as head coach Billy Napier may have hoped last season, the Florida Gators are blazing the trail making major strides with the Class of 2024. On Friday, the pursuits of Napier’s staff landed another significant prospect as four-star wide receiver Izaiah Williams (Tampa, FL) committed to the Gators.
Though Williams (6-foot, 172 pounds) has a significant offer list, many of those have come through over the last few months as he is beginning to impress coaches coming off a shoulder injury suffered during his junior season of high school football. In fact, 247Sports lists him as a three-star prospect on their internal rankings.
As such, he is the third-lowest rated prospect in Florida’s class but one who clearly has a high ceiling.
The Gators already have four top-50 commits as part of their Class of 2024, which has been ranked in the top five nationally at various times over the last six months. It currently sits No. 11 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings after the addition of Williams with two five-star commitments in the class for the first time since 2015. The class is rated higher on other recruiting services and their composite rankings.
