Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Ryan Sousa as an interesting signee as a three-star prospect out of Orlando, but his career with the Florida Gators simply never panned out and has now come to a conclusion.

Sousa on Monday announced his intention to transfer from Florida and pursue a career at another institution. “Alright UF It was fun but now it’s time to move on with my career… Miss all y’all boys,” he wrote on Twitter, directing the tweet to some Gators teammates.

After taking a redshirt as a true freshman, Sousa appeared in two games in 2015 but did not record any statistics.

Working with the team during spring practice, he likely realized how far down on Florida’s depth chart he actually was considering how many wideouts Gators coach Jim McElwain has developed and added to the program over the last two seasons.

There are currently 10 other scholarship receivers on the roster with two additional true freshmen, one of whom is four-star standout Tyrie Cleveland (Houston, TX), set to join the team this summer.

Florida football has not seen much attrition this offseason with the only other transfer being quarterback Will Grier, who was biding his time to choose a destination after announcing his decision to leave the program months earlier. Linebacker Jeremi Powell also left the team as he chose to give up football.
