To say that Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain was perturbed with the storylines perpetuated by LSU Tigers‘ administration, players and fans about the Florida-LSU game and its postponement is an understatement. He was down right angry.

McElwain spent that October week, following the postponement forced by Hurricane Matthew, and this game week staying relatively calm about the entire situation, but he did not hold back after Florida shut down LSU on the one-yard line in a 16-10 win at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“How about that?! … Played team on the road for a home game and won the SEC East, didn’t we?!” he said live on SEC Network. “They got some pride. They were called out. We came on the road and won a game. That’s the way it should be.”

He continued: “The incident that happened back then, there were lives involved. This was a game. And we won.”

McElwain went on and on during his press conference after the game.

“This was actually supposed to be a home game so the way we looked at it is stay undefeated at home. We’re 6-0 in The Swamp,” he said. “… It just shocks me that someone would question the Gators. The way I look at it, they got what they deserved. It should have been worse.”

McElwain even took a thinly-veiled shot at some non-believers that root for Florida.

β€œThe future is bright for the Gators. I’m happy for the Gator fans who don’t think we’re very good, but all we do is end up back in Atlanta,” he said.

The reaction was equally great from the players on Twitter.

“It don’t matter where we play lol!” wrote sophomore wide receiver Antonio Callaway. “When you talk about real make sure you mention my team!”

“Twitter can’t save you on the field !” wrote redshirt junior defensive tackle Caleb Brantley.

“LS-WHO? Next stop…..Atlanta! #GoGators” wrote redshirt junior punter Johnny Townsend.

“#BDN,” wrote senior linebacker Jarrad Davis.

“Yea we was running,” wrote junior cornerback Jalen Tabor.

“Great team win. Love this team. Love this family. #ATL,” wrote redshirt junior defensive end Jordan Sherit. “Also, I have recovered fully from my broken ankles I suffered early in the second half. Thank you for your well wishes.”

“How about them gators,” wrote junior defensive back Nick Washington.

“Eye Of The **Gator,” wrote junior offensive tackle David Sharpe.

“MAN ALL RECRUITS WHO DONT WANT TO BE APART OF A LEGACY #BacktoAtlanta … We Don’t Run From NOBODY AT ALL ….. Twitter Fingers Will Get U Exposed. … Don’t touch our coach at All MAN IM HYPED WOOOAAAHHHH … One last thing who the real DBU. FLORIDA” wrote freshman DB Chauncey Gardner.

” We were scared tho…” wrote redshirt sophomore quarterback Luke Del Rio.

“Good work today main man,” wrote sophomore running back Jordan Cronkrite.

The way we played reminded me of the heart and the fight of the Gator teams of old. It all started when our freshman linebacker Joseph tuned up LSU’s QB at the goal line. Knocked him silly. Made the hair stand up on the back on my neck. That turned the game around. I mean, man, from that point on, we battled. We hit like a mule kicks. Unbelievable. Still have goosebumps.

There were so many great plays. . so much heart. . so much fight. I can remember on that long drive that ended in the game winning field goal. . . 3rd and long and LSU brought the house. EVERY Gator lineman and EVERY Gator running back picked up an LSU defender and commenced to battle. . and they continued to battle until Appleby, untouched, had time to throw a nice pass to Cleveland who made a nice catch to convert the first down. I rewound that play over and over and over again. . . as I did many others. Like I said. . . goosebumps.

And, hey, remember what I said about Scarlett–because you heard it here first, before he ever set set foot on our campus: Baby Beast Mode. AND HE’S A TRUE SOPHOMORE!!!

Today was a coming of age game for a lot of young Gators and maybe the day that McElwain’s program turned the corner. Today will go down as one of the great Gator wins in history.

    GO GATORS!!!

And LSWho players were down our end of the field in the middle of our warmups, starting sh!+, then their halfwit running back shoves one of our coaches…. And they all jump around like they think they’re right. Amazing! The players act just like the dopey athletic director. Just a bunch of unaccountable punks, I used to think it was just the fans who were dim, drunk, and poorly mannered, but it’s the whole program.

I honestly hope we play these next two years in Gainesville, then drop the yearly rivalry. UF is one of the three most profitable athletic departments in college sports. LSWho is…. not. They need the $$ from playing UF. UF needs nothing from them. Peel off that parasite and ket that junk heap program go back to where it was before Miles and Saban. Lol.

    Great damn win!!!
Shouldn’t of even come down to that goal line stand to be honest. UF was chewing up the clock running the ball into the teeth of that defensive line. Don’t know why Mac/Nuss got cute on a 3rd and 1 with a toss sweep at the 1yd line that almost turned into a disaster. The way they were running the ball on that drive I have no idea why they did that. Fortunately it did not bite the Gators in the ass and they won. Score should have been 20 -10 but it is only fitting it ended like that. That goal line stand to hold the win is the identity of the Gators this season. Grateful that the Gators won the East because they deserved it and were the most consistent of any East team this year. Not the injuries, not the nay Sayer’s, and against all perceived odds it seems they earned the right to go back to Atlanta. See you in the ATL Gator Nation!!!!

I would add to that the drive killing 2 cute pass-play calls starting at 2 and 3 earlier in the 2nd half when they were not able to stop our run. I have to believe that LSU was very grateful we got cute. It seemed to be the only way they could stop us.

But, in fairness to McElwain, fans like me, having perfect 20-20 hindsight, would have also complained if they had stuffed us on that drive because we ran the ball over and over, lol. I do think Appleby gets a little tight on the goal line. . because I’m sure that pitch play didn’t look like that in practice. But overall Appleby was good. . darn sure good enough to win.

Go Bama! Give Florida what they really deserve.
