Just hours after the No. 11 Florida Gators thoroughly dominated their in-state rivals, the program picked up a verbal commitment from four-star running back Nay’Quan Wright (Opa Locka, FL), a long-time lean.
Wright (5-foot-8, 188 pounds) has not visited anywhere but Florida since the late summer and always appeared prepared to commit to the Gators at any moment. As the No. 264 overall recruit in the Class of 2019, he is the Gators’ sixth-highest rated pledge and the only player at his position currently set to join next season.
He is also the only 2019 commitment Florida has added since the first week of the 2018 season, though the Gators have seen pledges in future classes.
Four-star defensive tackle Gervon Dexter (Lake Wales, FL), the No. 70 player in the Class of 2020, committed to Florida back on Nov. 3. The Gators also added four-star athlete Kamar Jackson (Stone Mountain, GA), the Class of 2022’s No. 91 overall player, on Nov. 3, and saw 2022 offensive tackle George Jackson (Stone Mountain, GA) join up on Nov. 17.
The addition of Wright only boosted Florida one spot to No. 21 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings; the Gators are currently ranked 11th in the SEC with National Signing Day about 25 days away.
