The Florida Gators added their fourth verbal commitment this week on Thursday when three-star athlete Jamarrien Burt (Ocala, FL) committed to his hometown program. Burt, a product of Forest High School, was offered a scholarship as a defensive back.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound athlete also plays wide receiver and could potentially play multiple roles for Florida once enrolled. Burt is rated as the No. 57 overall player in the state, according to 247Sports’ expert rankings.
“Home is where the heart is. #Committed ” Burt wrote on Twitter when announcing his decision.
Though Burt does not have an extensive offer list, there were a half-dozen Power Five programs sniffing around, including Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi State and Penn State.
Burt joins the Gators as their 10th commitment and second defensive back in the Class of 2022. Florida did not move up in the 247Sports Composite team rankings with his pledge, remaining at No. 22 overall and ninth in the SEC.
