The Florida Gators remained at No. 2 when the second edition of the BCS standings were announced Sunday night. Florida, with a .9310 (+.0218) average, checked in second to the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (.9625). The Gators are one of four Southeastern Conference teams in the top 10 and one of six in the top 13.
Early Sunday afternoon, the eighth regular season editions of the USA Today Coaches and Associated Press Top 25 polls were released with Florida staking a claim near the top.
UF evened out at No. 3 in both polls, advancing one spot in the USA Today rankings. The Gators checked in with 1,329 voting points (+32) in the USA Today poll and 1,380 voting points (+19) in the AP top 25. Florida also received a single first-place vote from Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain Dealer as well as 10 second-place votes.
The Gators are also No. 3 in the Harris Poll, which is used in the BCS formula.
The Crimson Tide remained the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. Alabama received all 59 first-place votes from the coaches and all 59-of-60 votes from the AP voters.
