The 2022 Army All-American bowl got off to a rousing start for the Florida Gators as four-star running back Trevor Etienne (Jennings, LA) committed to the program. He is the first pledge to join the Gators’ Class of 2022 since the conclusion of the early signing period in mid-December.

Etienne (5-foot-9, 218 pounds), the younger brother of former Clemson star Travis Etienne (now of the Jacksonville Jaguars), committed to join Florida over both his brother’s alma mater and in-state power LSU.

Trevor (No. 183 overall) is actually ranked higher than Travis (No. 213) in their respective recruiting classes, per the 247Sports Composite. While Trevor is not believed to have as high a upside as Travis, he is nevertheless an extremely talented edition to the class.

Etienne named UF one of his finalists in late November, two days after an unofficial visit and one day following the formal hiring of head coach Billy Napier. Running backs coach Jabbar Juluke has served his primary recruiter, locking him up for an official visit pre-scheduled with the Gators for Jan. 14.

With Etienne now in the fold, Florida’s class jumped 10 spots to 40th in the 247Sports Composite team rankings. Napier and his army are looking to add a handful of top-tier uncommitted players between now and National Signing Day on Feb. 2 in hopes of bolstering the Gators’ transitional class.
