Does this sound familiar? Four-star 2021 wide receiver Trevonte Rucker (Ocala, FL) has verbally committed to the Florida Gators. It should because that sentence — originally written back on Nov. 28, 2018, when Rucker became one of the first members of Florida’s Class of 2021 — is now factual again.

Rucker (6-foot, 157 pounds) on Tuesday committed to the Gators for the second time, and surely, both parties hope this decision will stick.

The No. 125 overall player in the nation is a hometown product from Vanguard High School and never strayed too far away from Florida. His initial commitment lasted about seven months, but when he decommitted in May 2019, he never moved to another program and UF never stopped pursuing him. Now, he’s right back in the fold with the Gators.

Rucker, a high school quarterback, is lauded for his football intelligence, speed and open-field vision. As such, he could play immediately as a true freshman.

Florida is also in firm pursuit of Rucker’s high school teammate, four-star defensive end Bryce Langston (Ocala, FL), the No. 42 overall player in the nation. Landing both prospects from nearby Vanguard is almost a must for the Gators as they look to secure one of the top 2021 classes in the nation.

Rucker becomes the top-rated commitment in the Gators’ 11-member Class of 2021, bumping it to No. 4 nationally and first in the SEC. All seven of Florida’s four-star pledges are among the top 300 players in the nation, and a quarterback is already locked up with Carlos Del Rio (Loganville, GA) committing in July 2019.

Earlier this month, Florida added a verbal commitment from Del Rio’s teammate, four-star 2021 athlete Daejon Reynolds (Loganville, GA). The 196th-ranked player in the country, Reynolds (6-foot-2, 195 pounds) is projected to play wide receiver at the next level.
