It’s been a long time since the Florida Gators added a verbal commitment, but that drought came to an end Tuesday night when three-star quarterback Nick Evers (Flower Mound, TX) chose to continue his career under the tutelage of head coach Dan Mullen. Evers seemingly did not waste much time in making his decision.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound signal caller announced his decision through a social media video on top of TuPac’s “Dear Mama” track.

The Gators offered Evers just one month ago. They were the first top-tier program to do so with Penn State, Virginia Tech, Minnesota, Auburn, Ole Miss and others subsequently sending offers over the last few weeks.

Evers is ranked as the 447th player nationally and 20th pro-style quarterback, per the 247Sports Composite, though those ratings will likely improve over the course of his senior season of high school football.

With Evers now on the board, the Gators’ Class of 2022 stands at a disappointing 25th nationally, though there’s still nine months until the early signing period. Florida lost five-star athlete Sam McCall’s pledge on Jan. 1 only to see him commit to rival Florida State two months later.
