Less than 15 months after enrolling in school and joining the Florida Gators football team, redshirt sophomore cornerback Jahari Rogers has decided to enter the transfer portal, according to 247Sports and other reports. Rogers is the second UF player to leave the program since the conclusion of spring practice.

Despite the Gators set to begin the 2021 season with a young, inexperienced secondary, the former four-star prospect — rated as the No. 87 overall player in the Class of 2020 — has decided to seek other options to continue his career.

It is unknown where Rogers fit on the depth chart after spring practice as Florida neither released such a document nor held a spring game where players’ roles could be evaluated publicly. However, there is some belief that Rogers’ decision may be due to the fact that five-star 2021 early enrollee Jason Marshall (and perhaps others) passed him at the cornerback position.

Rogers is the ninth scholarship player to transfer out of the Gators football program since the conclusion of the 2020 season.
