Former Florida Gators center Mike Pouncey became the NFL‘s highest-paid player at his position on Friday night when he agreed to a five-year, $45 million extension ($22 million guaranteed) with the Miami Dolphins.

The landmark deal signed by the No. 15 overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft will mark the second league-record contract secured by the Pouncey family in as many offseasons.

Last June, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed C Maurkice Pouncey to a five-year, $44 million extension (including $13 million fully guaranteed) that made him the NFL’s highest-paid center.

Maurkice Pouncey, a four-time Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection (2010-12, 2014), was the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Mike Pouncey has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons (2013-14).

Mike Pouncey signing a contract was first reported by the Miami Herald‘s Armando Salguero, while terms were broken by ESPN‘s Adam Schefter.
