Just days after receiving a scholarship offer from the Florida Gators, three-star offensive tackle Stone Forsythe (Winter Garden, FL) gave the program a verbal commitment.

“Officially committed to the University of Florida! #GoGators #GatorNation #ChompChomp,” he wrote on Twitter.

Forsythe (6-foot-7, 320 pounds) did not have a wide-ranging offer list, picking Florida over Duke, East Carolina and Kentucky, among others.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Forsythe is a Gators fan who plans to enroll early at UF and is unlikely to waver in his pledge.

“I just wanted to be a Gator. I just want to play in The Swamp,” he told the paper. “I don’t have to worry about where I want to play anymore. I can just work my butt off during the summer and get ready for next fall.”

He took an unofficial visit to Gainesville, Florida, in April for the 2015 Orange & Blue Deubt spring football game.

Forsythe is the 10th prospect to commit to Florida for 2016 but just the first along the offensive line despite the Gators’ desperately needing to replenish its depth at that position. All but one of Florida’s 2016 commitments are rated as three-star prospects in the 247 Sports Composite.
