Though Florida Gators football will not be a featured SEC on CBS game to open the 2018 season, the times and network assignments have been announced for the program’s first three games under new head coach Dan Mullen.

In fact, the network assignment part will be easy for Florida fans to remember as all three games will air live nationally on SEC Network. The Gators will host Charleston Southern in the season opener on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET and also face Kentucky at home in the same time slot on Saturday, Sept. 8. In Week 3, Florida will host Colorado State with a 4 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Though the Gators will not be featured on CBS or ESPN over the first three weeks of the season, the fact that Florida is able to play late in the day as opposed to the dreaded 12 p.m. time slot is at least something to grab onto.

Mullen has spent the majority of his first offseason with the program imploring fans to fill Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and recreate the difficult atmosphere that has made The Swamp infamous over the years. By opening the season with three games that will all occur in the evening hours, fans will certainly have the opportunity to establish a precedent for the remainder of the home games this season.

It stands to reason that UF’s following three games — road contests at Tennessee and Mississippi State, along with a home game against LSU — will have strong consideration for the major TV outlets, and the annual Florida-Georgia rivalry game will once again hold the 3:30 p.m. slot on CBS when it kicks on Saturday, Oct. 27.
