The Florida Gators not only added a commitment but a member of their active roster on Sunday as JUCO wide receiver Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman committed to the program. Bowman also signed his scholarship papers and will be on the roster for the 2022 season with four years of eligibility remaining, according to 247Sports.

“Thank you everyone [who] continued to support me on this journey,” Bowman tweeted while committing to the Gators. “I’m grateful for this special opportunity. Let’s Work!!”

Bowman (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) was recruited at the FBS level out of high school but instead decided to play in prep school before moving on to Independence Community College in Minneapolis where he did not see the field. He committed to Florida after a push from position coach Keary Colbert with 247Sports reporting that Illinois, Nebraska, Ole Miss and Penn State were also interested. It’s unknown if any of their offers were commitable at this time.

His brother, Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman, played four years at Northwestern. While Ramaud was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in 2021, he did not make the roster and is not currently in the NFL.

Thai Bowman, at least initially, mostly brings depth to a wide receiver room undergoing a significant shift due to graduations and departures following last season. Given he’s not on a one-year scholarship, Florida clearly believes he has potential to be a contributor down the line.
