Florida Gators head basketball coach Todd Golden landed his biggest commitment to date Saturday, continuing a trend of recruiting victories for the second-year boss. Four-star center John Bol (Wichita, KS), one of the top players in the Class of 2024, pledged to join the Gators in about 18 months.
Bol (7-foot-1, 190 pounds) committed to Florida out of a final six that also included UConn, Michigan, Missouri, Texas, USC and Wake Forest. He is the third-ranked center in the nation and No. 23 overall player in the 247Sports Composite.
“Ultimately, my goal is to make it the NBA, and I feel like me being at Florida is the best fit for me,” Bol told 247Sports. “The SEC, how they play there, the style of play is one that I feel like if I go there, I will be successful and ultimately make my goal. Florida is a program where I also think we can make a run. I think that we can make a run and win a championship, too.”
Golden began recruiting Bol just before the 2022-23 season and has remained steadfast in his desire to land the big man. While simultaneously rebuilding the Gators’ active roster ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, Golden has made strides with what will be the the first cycle where he truly concentrates on high school prospects.
Bol jones four-star guard Isaiah Brown (Orlando, FL) as the members of Florida’s next class. Brown is a larger guard at 6-foot-5, 185 pounds, who ranks as the No. 129 player in the 247Sports Composite.
