What’s old is new again, at least when it comes to the status of four-star athlete Kamar Wilcoxson (Decatur, GA). The one-time Florida Gators commitment rejoined the program’s Class of 2021 on Saturday night just three months after leaving it.

Wilcoxson (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) initially committed to Florida on Nov. 3, 2018, but left the program on April 27 following consecutive visits to Georgia Tech. He looked to be wavering between the Yellow Jackets and the Gators, but just 24 hours after a visit to UF’s Friday Night Lights junior camp, Wilcoxson decided to get back into the fold.

Part of the reason for Wilcoxson’s initial departure may have been a Florida coaching change. Though he is listed as an athlete, Wilcoxson is expected to compete as a cornerback for the Gators, which saw Charlton Warren depart last year and Torrian Gray step in to replace him.

Wilcoxson, the 219th ranked prospect per the 247Sports Composite, is Florida’s second 2021 pledge in as many days following three-star quarterback Carlos Del Rio, who committed Friday night. He is also the fourth member of the Gators’ class, which is now ranked fifth nationally and first in the SEC. Four-star defensive end Tyreak Sapp and three-star offensive tackle George Jackson are the other commitments at this time.
