As the Florida Gators continue trying to build their Class of 2022, the program hauled in another big fish for the following season when four-star 2023 wide receiver Raymond Cottrell (Milton, FL) committed to continue his career in Gainesville, Florida. He made his commitment at Friday Night Lights, the Gators’ signature summer on-campus recruiting event.

“I will be committing to the university of Florida 100% committed,” he tweeted Friday.

Cottrell (6-foot-2, 203 pounds) committed to Florida primarily over Florida State. He is rated as the No. 76 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, and his pledge gives the Gators a tremendous 1-2 punch as it attempts to build a top five class the 2023 cycle.

Along with four-star tight end Mac Markway (St. Louis, MO), who committed earlier this week, Cottrell gives Florida the nation’s No. 3 class at this early juncture with 16 months until the 2023 early signing period.

Later Friday night, 2024 running back Jerrick Gibson (Gainesville, FL) committed to the program. UF was the local product’s first offer, and he jumped on the opportunity. He is the first pledge for the Class of 2024, which consists of players entering their sophomore years of high school football.
