It did not take long for what has already been deemed a successful Friday Night Lights for the Florida Gators — in terms of relationship building for the future — to bear fruit. In fact, it only took hours into the weekend for four-star defensive back Jordan Castell (Winter Garden, FL) to make his ultimate decision and commit to the Gators.
Castell (6-foot-2, 192 pounds) committed to Florida over Alabama and Tennessee. He took his official visit to UF on June 3 and returned for Friday Night Lights to take one last look at the program before making his pledge.
Ranked No. 202 in the 247Sports Composite, Castell becomes the sixth highest-rated prospect in the Gators’ Class of 2023. All six of those players joined the recruiting class in July with Castell the seventh commitment overall this month.
Castell’s pledge only bumps Florida one additional spot to No. 13 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings; however, the Gators have moved 10 slots since the start of the week with four-star cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson (Kissimmee, FL) and four-star wide receiver Aidan Mizell (Orlando, FL) — now the top-ranked player in the class at No. 72 overall — also in the fold.
Castell is also the 13th of Florida’s 15 commitments overall to hail from the Sunshine State. The Gators now have 13 four-star and two three-star commitments with five players among the top 200 prospects in the nation.
