With the 2023 college football season approaching, the Florida Gators have not slowed down their pursuit of talented prospects as a means of significantly improving the roster next season. Four-star defensive back Wardell Mack (Marrero, LA) contributed to that effort by committing to the Gators on Monday.
Mack (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) pledged to Florida over Texas with Florida State and LSU also considered finalists for the talented prospect. He visited UF three times since the spring, most recently in late July for a cookout that drew rave reviews from recruits.
Ranked No. 115 overall in the 247Sports Composite, Mack becomes the Gators’ eighth-highest rated commitment overall but the top defensive back in the class. His pledge helped Florida further separate from Alabama as the No. 3 class in the 247Sports Composite team rankings with UF somewhat closing the gap on Ohio State. Georgia remains way out in front.
The Gators had a blistering month of July on the recruiting front with announcements slowing down significantly over the last four weeks. Mack is Florida’s first commitment since July 18.
