The 2025 recruiting cycle has been off to a relatively slow start for the Florida Gators with some of the nation’s top prospects waiting to see the product head coach Billy Napier puts on the field in Year 3. One major talent who is not taking the wait-and-see approach is four-star cornerback Ben Hanks Jr. (Miami, FL), who committed to the Gators on Friday.
Hanks (6-foot-1, 170 pounds), the son of former Florida linebacker Ben Hanks Sr., visited UF twice this summer before ultimately committing to the program over Miami and Louisville. He is ranked as the No. 81 prospect in the nation by 247Sports. As such, Hanks is now the Gators’ third-highest rated commitment in the Class of 2025.
Florida shot up 13 spots in the 247Sports team rankings to the No. 30 class in the nation on the back of Hanks’ pledge. The Gators were ranked in the 60s back in July — mostly due to low class numbers — but continue moving up as they build their class with talent with the 2024 season approaching. There are now 13 members of the recruiting class.
