Coming off a tremendous finish to its first campaign under head coach Dan Mullen, the Florida Gators have returned to the top 10 of the Preseason AP Top 25, checking in as the No. 8 team in the nation when the top 25 rankings were released on Monday. Florida finished the 2018 season ranked No. 7 in the poll.

The Gators were not ranked among the top 25 teams in the 2018 preseason poll and have not been a top-10 ranked team in the preseason since 2013.

Florida finished 10-3 (5-3 SEC) last season, winning its final four games, including its last three by a combined score of 145-39.

Clemson will open the season as the No. 1 team in the nation for the first time in program history. Alabama checks in at No. 2 as fellow SEC schools Georgia and LSU also sit ahead of UF. There are six SEC teams ranked among the top 25 (all inside the top 16, just like the Coaches Poll). Neither Florida State nor Miami are ranked, though UCF checks in at No. 17. The Gators and Hurricanes will open the 2019 season in Week 0 on Saturday, Aug. 24 in Orlando, Florida.
