College football rankings: Florida pushed out of top 10 of AP Top 25 after win

Coming off a bye week following a Week 0 victory over Miami, the Florida Gators have seen themselves pushed out of the top 10 of the AP Top 25, checking as the No. 11 in team in the nation when the first set of regular-season rankings were released on Tuesday. The Gators were listed at No. 8 in both major preseason polls.

Florida was pushed out of the top 10 by Notre Dame and Texas — each moving up one spot — and Auburn, which vaulted from No. 16 to No. 10 after beating then-No. 11 Oregon in the lone game featuring ranked opponents in Week 1. UF also found itself down two spots to No. 10 in the Coaches Poll, still ahead of AU.

Clemson remains the No. 1 team in the nation with Alabama in right behind it at No. 2. Following a difficult opening week for the SEC, there remain six teams in the AP Top 25 poll with Texas A&M immediately behind Florida at No. 12.

  1. Ron Parrish says:

Hoping to see much improved Florida Gator Team this week and for the rest of the season. I was displeased the way they performed especially on offense in their first game!! I have been a Gator Fan for over 50 years, and we will see what happens?? Some of the players need to show much more discipline and maturity in their actions as of now!! Poor display of both in last game and leaves a bad taste of lack of character in many of their supporters and naysayers minds. There is no common sense reasons for these foolish actions that lead to lack of respect for the University of Florida, Players, Coaches, Students, and Fans.

  2. Michael Jones says:

Number 11 is still generous after what I saw against Miami. The good news is that our destiny is in our hands. It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish. I think we’ll get better.

    Go Gators!!!

    • Stanley says:

The Florida Gators going to the National Championship this year because we way better than some of the team deserves a spot in the top five we should be like number 7 in the ranking is much better than you play before

  3. Erica Sparta fan says:

Can someone explain how the Florida destroys Michigan, but then gets ranked behind them?!?!? Is the gator fan base annoyed/frustrated by this? I mean Michigan got destroyed the game before the bow game bye osU? Wtf

  4. D_Florida_Gator says:

No way the Notre Dames should rank better than The Gators..

    • C.hill says:

Dam right8, they lost to Georgia and have not played any ranked team, so them assholes at the ap are saying that a loss to a number 3 ranked team is better than a no loss team??????? Notre dame shouldn’t even be in the top ten. They dont play anybody the whole season, they got there ass beat by the only ranked team they will play this whole season, NOTRE DAME SUCKS somebody at the AP.
