The Alachua County Sherrif’s Office on Thursday released the 911 call that eventually led to the arrest of Florida Gators redshirt junior wide receiver Chris Rainey. The call features the voice of the sister of Rainey’s on-again, off-again girlfriend, who recounts the events of the night and requests help from the Gainesville Police Department.

Well no offense to the mentally challenged but Chris is retarded for sending that text. This sounds like a guy who got in a fight with his girlfriend and said (and too bad for him texted) something he obviously didn’t mean but let his emotions take over him. I think that what he did was totally stupid but I also think that many of us would agree that arguments with spouses/girlfrien or boyfriends are some of the most verbally heated ones around. That being said, I feel a suspension is in order but, unlike what I had originally thought, complete dismissal from he team is not warranted if thia truly ia his first offense and ding on his record with the law and the team.

Man that was a lot less dramatic than I thought. The text message is bad, and he should be punished, but he shouldn’t have his life screwed up over this.

Her sister was pretty awesome…put that girl in her place!

  4. SC Gator says:

So… her sister called it in, not her. No wonder she wasted no time arguing against them pressing charges.

Also, her sister says she doesn’t even know his last name but then reporting that he isn’t on any medication? I’m very curious now to see if he actually was on anything because of his injury.

Sounds like a classic case of the Super C- Blocking Sister.

  6. Matt says:

    I agree with Marc.

Am I the only one who thinks this whole thing is ridiculous. If he physically did something, then that’s a totally different situation. But he didn’t. I am still puzzled how he was actually arrested. If people saw some of the texts I write (obviously in jest) I think they might lock me up and throw away the key. What is the world coming to. What ever happened to getting a stern talking to by the police and don’t let this happen again. What a waste of everyone’s time and tax dollars.
