As if the Hail Mary touchdown that beat the No. 23 Tennessee Volunteers was not painful enough, there was some savagery from a couple Florida Gators sent out over Twitter after No. 24 Florida picked up its last-second victory on Saturday night.

Redshirt senior punter Johnny Townsend, who may be one of the last people you would expect to spit hot fire, did not hold back. “Still champions of life so it’s all good!!!!” he wrote. Townsend had a typically solid game, averaging 44.8 yards per punt with a long of 59 when the Gators needed it the most.

Among the myriad other Florida players to mouth off on Twitter was sophomore linebacker Vosean Joseph, who was rather succinct with his statement. “Piss on that,” he wrote, referring to a Tennessee fan who shared a pathetic video of himself urinating on the Tim Tebow statue outside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

While the UF-UT rivalry has always been a heated one, tensions have mounted in recent years as the Vols have been tired of losing to the Gators and Florida refuses to allow Tennessee back atop the mountain in the SEC East. The last four games between the teams have been decided by 10 points or fewer with UT rallying back from 21 points down to break UF’s 11-game series winning streak in 2016.
