College football rankings: Florida football holds steady in top 25 polls after Tennessee win

While it was not without a few miscues, the Florida Gators (4-0, 2-0 SEC) cruised to a relatively easy win at home over the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, picking up a 34-3 victory at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida. With a new starting quarterback and two of its key defenders injured, Florida showed what it can do against a bad team. The question will be how the Gators are looked when they go up against fellow ranked opponents, starting in Week 6.

But this is Week 5, and the Gators will enter it holding firm at No. 9 in the AP Top 25 and No. 8 in the Coaches Poll for the third consecutive cycle. The difference in the respective rankings is now Wisconsin, which jumped Florida in the AP Top 25 after beating Michigan but remains behind it in the Coaches Poll. Auburn is now ahead of UF in both sets of college football rankings.

Florida’s three top 25 opponents this season are now ranked No. 3 (Georgia), No. 4 (LSU) and No. 7 (Auburn). The Gators will play the latter two teams in back-to-back weeks.
