LOOK: Florida Gators unveil orange throwback helmets as part of special uniform for 2021 homecoming game

Homecoming this season features a less-than-stellar matchup with some more-than-stellar uniforms as the No. 20 Florida Gators will wear special throwback uniforms with brand new helmets when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday. Though Florida will wear the 1960s-era throwback uniforms that first returned in 2019, it will do so with a different style lid.

The Gators are debuting special orange helmets with an interlocking “UF” logo, grey facemasks and no stripes for the first time in the modern era. These debuted in 1969 and were used throughout the 1970s. Florida will wear these with the aforementioned 1960s-style blue jerseys and white pants that it has worn each of the last two seasons on homecoming.

While the Gators actually wore the main portion of these uniforms — the blue jerseys with over-the-shoulder orange and white stripes, and the white pants with orange and blue stripes — against Alabama on Sept. 30, 2006, the helmet completes a different look. Florida will complete the look with black cleats.
