Gators crack top five for first time since 2010

The sixth regular season editions of the USA Today Coaches and Associated Press Top 25 polls were released on Sunday with the Florida Gators claiming a spot in the top five of a poll for the first time since the 2010 preseason.

Florida shot up both polls, vaulting five spots to No. 6 and six spots to No. 4 in the respective rankings. The Gators checked in with 1,165 voting points (+282) in the USA Today rankings and 1,265 voting points (+328) in the AP poll.

The Alabama Crimson Tide remained the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. Alabama received 58-of-59 first-place votes from the coaches and all 60 first-place votes from the AP voters.

    Adam, I think you have LSU ranked 8th and 24th in the coaches poll.

    Weekly climb: 23, 17, 14, 12, 11, 6. Steady improvement, steady climb. Very impressive.

    You just can’t give enough credit to ‘Champ and his staff. I think Pease choosing UF over Bama is very telling. It was by far the biggest off-season move in college football. It appears that Boom is one-upping the Sabanator at every turn lately. At this point it isn’t crazy to hope for an Atlanta meeting with ” the Alabama coach.” Bama would likely beat UF but it would still be a huge accomplishment to just return there.

    In the big picture, if you’re not very excited about the direction of Florida football then you probably have no pulse.
