The No. 10 Florida Gators are back in action Saturday after two weeks off as the program has dealt with fallout from a COVID-19 breakout within the team. However, when they do step onto Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, the Gators will look mighty different.

Florida on Monday announced that it will be wearing blue throwback “F” helmets for the game along with the retro uniform it donned last season. The Gators wore white helmets with that uniform in 2019 but have decided to switch it up this time around.

Take a look at this video of the helmet below.

For homecoming last year, Florida wore a throwback uniform from the 1960s that had not been donned (in its totality) in more than five decades. Though UF wore the main portion of the uniform — blue jerseys with over-the-shoulder orange and white stripes, white pants with orange and blue stripes — in 2006, it had not included white helmet with a solid grey facemask and block “F” in a circle since the early 1960s.

These blue helmets will also have a grey facemask, mimicking the style of helmet worn by the team in the 1950s and 60s. Florida moved to a primary orange helmet in 1969.

Like last year, the Gators will also wear black cleats with white shoelaces, an old-school look that had not been done by the program in quite some time. The compilation photo below is from that prior uniform release, while the tweet afterward is a promotional look at this year’s uniform.
