On Saturday evening, a new leader of the SEC East emerged. After three straight losses to the Georgia Bulldogs, the Florida Gators came out on top in the 2020 edition of the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party picking up a huge 44-28.

Quarterback Kyle Trask led the way for the No. 8 Gators, setting multiple SEC and Florida passing records in the process. Trask is now the first quarterback in SEC history to toss four touchdowns in five consecutive games. He also set the UF program record for passing yards in a regular0season game (474) and is tied with LSU’s Joe Burrow for the second-most passing touchdowns through five games in SEC history (22), trailing only Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa. Trask finished the game 30 of 43 passing with 474 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.

Defensively, the Gators held No. 5 Georgia to 2 of 13 on third down, their best rate of the season. Florida also forced a season-high three turnovers against the Dawgs and limited QBs Stetson Bennett IV and D’Wan Mathis to a season-low 112 yards through the air on just 9 of 29 passing.

After giving up a 75-yard touchdown to running back Zamir White on Georgia’s first offensive play of the game, Florida held White to 32 yards rushing the rest of the way and the Bulldogs to just 90 yards rushing throughout the final 59:48.

Here’s how Gator Nation reacted.
