Florida Gators release 2011 football schedule

By Adam Silverstein
November 10, 2010

The University of Florida posted the official dates for each game on the Florida Gators’ 2011 football schedule on Wednesday.

April 9 – Orange & Blue Debut
Sept. 3 – vs. Florida Atlantic
Sept. 10 – vs. Alabama-Birmingham
Sept. 17 – vs. Tennessee
Sept. 24 – at Kentucky
Oct. 1 – vs. Alabama
Oct. 8 – at Louisiana State
Oct. 15 – at Auburn
Oct. 22 – Bye Week
Oct. 29 – vs. Georgia (Jacksonville, FL)
Nov. 5 – vs. Vanderbilt (Homecoming)
Nov. 12 – at South Carolina
Nov. 19 – vs. Furman
Nov. 26 – vs. Florida State

Auburn returns to Florida’s schedule for the first time since 2007; UF has not been victorious in a contest against AU since 2002, losing back-to-back games to them in 2006-07 (17-27, 17-20). Match-ups against Florida Atlantic, UAB and Furman make up the team’s out of conference schedule, and the Gators will once again get a week off before participating in the Florida-Georgia game. Like 2010, UF will also be faced with three consecutive contests against top SEC West teams right in the middle of their schedule and will once again play all of their games on Saturdays.

I’m guessing we are still playing USCe on Nov. 12th?

  2. nikhil says:

I like it. Bama will be without Ingram, LSU will lose some of that NFL-ready talent on defense….Cam will definitely be gone.

And we can all see this group coming together now. Next year will be even sweeter. Go Gators!

  3. Gatorken says:

October is going to be BRUTAL which hopefully will make up for our candy OOC schedule.

  4. TheMrAntonio says:

Any idea what date homecoming is? I’m assuming it would be Nov. 5 vs Vandy

  5. SaraGator says:

    Tough schedule!

  6. David says:

Homecoming has been the weekend around 10/18 the last few years. I know because it is always the weekend just before or after my birthday. Anwyay, I think this schedule is tough and if any UF homers try to tell themself something different they are crazy.

  7. Gatorbuc15 says:

I think Furman’s gonna be our toughest test.

  8. Jonathan says:

This is the kind of schedule we always get made fun of for. FAU, UAB, and Furman???

  9. david says:

Good call adam. I missed that one. Boy do I feel dumb!

  10. Gatorbuc15 says:

I agree Adam, but just try telling that to the Cane/Nole fans.

  11. Jordan says:

Don’t be surprised if homecoming is vs. Alabama. The school has liked to have homecoming earlier in the year than November in recent years.

  12. SaraGator says:

Who cares what the Cane/Nole fans think. Their ACC conference teams are cupcakes.

Tennessee should field a better team next year.
Alabama will still be a good team.
At LSU will more likely be a night game.
At Auburn always play hard against us
Georgia’s qb and defense will have more experience
At South Carolina will be tough

  13. Drew 4 Orange & Blue says:

Bama, at LSU and at Auburn all in a row is just crazy!!!!

  14. Escambia94 says:

I liked having Homecoming around my birthday. Oh well. Also, I wouldn’t knock the OOC cupcakes until all the big boy conferences went to round-robin.

  15. Jamie says:

My guess is homecoming will be Vandy on Nov 5

  16. Joe says:

I would still like to see a tougher second game. The coaches don’t really can’t get a handle on “who we are and what we do well” until Alabama and by then it’s almost too late to make any meaningful corrections.

  17. John S says:

Man that’s rough, We’re facing the class of SEC West. The out of conference is fine, FSU will likely be top 25 next year. Don’t forget that if we make it the to Atlanta, we’ll face another top 10 team. We could be looking at 4 games against top 10 teams (Auburn, Alabama, LSU, one ditto). There is no one in the ACC or any other conference that compares.

Out of conference only matters if your conference sucks. Example Oregon played New Mexico, Tenn, and Portland State this year. Auburn played Ark State, Clemson, Lousiana Monroe, and Chattanooga. We’ll play tougher OOC schedules than both. They will likely play for the title. Don’t believe ESPN or other NE sports outlets that OOC is the key factor. The total schedule is what matters.

  18. Matt P says:

i understand we play in the SEC and that October stretch is brutal but our OOC is such a joke especially this year. Play USF or UCF every year. I understand we always put a FCS school on there, which most schools do, but lets play some Big 12/8 or Pac 12/12 Pac teams instead of always picking Non-AQ conference teams.

  19. Gatorbuc15 says:

You knowI really don’t care what they think either guys. I wasn’t really being serious.

Yes, we have a very hard schedule for next year.

  20. Bull lizard says:

Looking at this schedule makes me realize what a joke the records of teams like Boise State are – in order to be the best, you should have to tested more than once or twice a season.

  21. caligator says:

Thanks Bull Lizard! I’ve been sayin that to anyone who’ll listen for 3 seasons now…

  22. lucille lane says:

Does anyone know the approximate time the Homecoming Parade ususlly begins. Thanks.
