Florida football recruiting: 2021 athlete Chief Borders commits to Gators
Football

Add one to the Class of 2021 and the all-time name list. The SEC’s top-rated two cycles away has added yet another commitment as athlete Chief Borders (Powder Springs, GA) has decided to continue his football career playing for the Florida Gators.

Borders (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) is currently not rated by the major recruiting services but has two dozen offers, including from major programs like Ohio State, Auburn and Arkansas. He is projected to play linebacker at the next level.

The prospect announced his commitment with a Twitter graphic saying he was “taking his talents to the SEC” and “it’s a great day to be a Florida Gator!”

Borders is classmates at McEachern High School with four-star quarterback Carlos Del Rio (Powder Springs, GA), the No. 195 overall player in the nation and a current Gators commitment for 2021.

His pledge does not boost Florida’s class ranking due to the fact that he’s unrated, but Borders is now the seventh member of the team’s Class of 2021, which is ranked first in the SEC and sixth nationally, per the 247Sports Composite.
