Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, in the middle of a noteworthy second season in which he has lead his team to a 5-1 record since taking over as starter, will be featured on the cover of the premiere issue of NFL Magazine, which will be available at a newsstand or bookstore near you on Dec. 13 ($4.99).

The issue was scheduled to feature Carolina QB Cam Newton on the cover. Tebow supplanted him because he has become a bigger story.

“Tim Tebow is current. He’s a talking piece. You love him or you hate him,” Mike Dunphy, publisher and editor of NFL Magazine, told the Associated Press. “What better relevant topic than Tim Tebow?”

What better way to sell a ton of copies of your inaugural issue?

Do I detect a slight angelic glow added to the photo of Timmy? Great choice by the editor, people can’t get enough of the guy, love or hate him.

  2. David H. says:

Nice Tebow replaced that laptop stealing thief on the cover. I will definitely be picking up a copy on the 13th.

  3. g8ter27 says:

I know this is off topic but just saw where Durkin is tweeting he is staying at UF. Any knowledge of that Adam? How about Marotti, geez I hope he goes, that FSU game looked like a battle field with our guys strewn across the sidelines. Hell i could be a better strength and conditioning coach than him by setting up a couple of gazelles and popping in a Tony Little tape.

    • Marotti is gone. Durkin is staying.

      • Ken (CA) says:

shame, if i had my choice and one had to leave, would prefer Marotti stayed and Durkin gone, only if one had to go, but nice to see Durkin staying, he is a solid coach.

As much as this was a great opportunity for UM, and even with everything he said previously that has been commented on and quoted over and over, shame on him for poaching the Gator staff at all…
