Four Gators starters earn AP All-SEC honors

Four Florida Gators football players were selected by the Associated Press as members of their 2010 All-SEC Teams on Monday.

Senior safety Ahmad Black, senior punter Chas Henry and junior cornerback Janoris Jekins were named All-SEC first-team selections, while senior center Mike Pouncey earned second team honors.

With Black, Henry and Pouncey graduating – and Jenkins expected to declare his eligibility for the 2011 NFL Draft – none of Florida’s honorees will likely return for the 2011 season.

Southeastern Conference coaches placed 10 Gators on their preseason All-SEC teams. Included on that list were Pouncey, Jenkins and redshirt senior guard Carl Johnson on the first team, and Black, Henry, junior running back Jeff Demps, junior S Will Hill, redshirt senior linebacker A.J. Jones, redshirt junior wide receiver Chris Rainey and junior kicker Caleb Sturgis on the second team.

too funny … pouncey did not make first team … also, don’t be too surprised if jenkins stays if there is a lock out …

I know most of you will probably think I am being overly critical but I was a little disappointed in Janoris Jenkins year. I really expected more out of him. I felt like he got beat too often which may have originated from him trying to make too many plays but still. Joe Haden was a physical corner so I never expected to him to completely shut down a WR but I did expect Jenkins too. Though he did show he was very physical this year in run support and has a knack for the corner blitz

    • Joe had a lot of help – both in the secondary and front 7 – which allowed him to be so dominant. Janoris didn’t have “a Janoris”-quality guy across from him. Also didn’t have Cunningham or Dunlap rushing, Spikes calling the shots/playing coverage or Major Wright back there with Ahmad Black. Haden is better but Janoris had nothing helping him along and still played well.

Pouncey 2nd team? really? Better than I would have thought this year!

They must have been listening to Addazio’s interviews instead of watching him on film.

Speaking of Spikes, did anyone see him play last night? Dude looks like a 22 year old trapped in Kimbo Slices body. Definitely a scary dude…..I miss him!
