Florida Gators at 2014 NFL Combine: Saturday

By Adam Silverstein
February 22, 2014

For the fifth-straight year, OnlyGators.com continues our coverage of the eight former Florida Gators participating in the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine (National Invitational Camp) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.

The event, which is held for six days from Feb. 19-25, consists of more than 300 players being put through a series of drills, tests and interviews while more than 600 NFL personnel in attendance (including coaching staffs, executives, player personnel and medical staffs) look on and evaluate each of them. It amounts to a major job interview for these athletes to participate in ahead of the start of the 2014 NFL Draft on May 8.

Offensive lineman Jon Halapio (Group: 1 | Camp: OL12), OL Jonotthan Harrison (Group: 1 | Camp: OL13) and tight end Trey Burton (Group: 3 | Camp: TE03) concluded their four days at the combine on Saturday by competing in the full workout (results below).

Defensive tackle Dominique Easley* (Group: 7 | Camp: DL09) and linebacker Ronald Powell** (Group: 9 | Camp: LB23), who both arrived at the combine on Friday, were officially measured, completed medical exams, met with the media and continued the interview process they began the previous day.

Check out Saturday’s results from the 2014 NFL Combine…after the break!

Offensive lineman Jon Halapio (Group: 1 | Camp: OL12)
Height: 6’3″ | Weight: 323 lbs.
Arm length: 33 5/8″ | Hand size: 10 1/4″

Bench press: Did not participate
40-yard dash: 5.34 seconds
Three-cone drill: 8.26 seconds
20-yard shuttle: 4.83 seconds
Vertical jump: 21.5 inches (shortest)
Broad jump: 100.0 inches

Overview: A three-season starter at right guard for Florida whose injured pectoral muscle forced him to miss two games and bothered him throughout the 2013 campaign, Halapio gives great effort and is expected to have a high floor on the NFL level. Though he was part of an offensive line that did not impress last season, Halapio is believed to be one of the top 10 guards in the draft and will likely be a third-day selection.
Strengths: Mass, hands, three-step drop, leadership, character
Weaknesses: Changing direction, recovery speed, power, range

Offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison (Group: 1 | Camp: OL13)
Height: 6’3″ | Weight: 304 lbs.
Arm length: 33 3/8″ | Hand size: 9 7/8″

Bench press: 27 reps of 225 lbs.
40-yard dash: 5.15 seconds
Three-cone drill: 7.97 seconds
20-yard shuttle: 4.86 seconds
Vertical jump: 27.0 inches
Broad jump: 113.0 inches (third-longest)

Overview: Converted to center in 2011, Harrison started 38-straight games to close his career. He has good size and strength for his position but needs to work on his ability to move in a scheme blocking system. Harrison has a high ceiling and would benefit from more consistent, professional coaching. A top-10 center available in the draft, he is expected to be a third-day selection.
Strengths: Size, mass, arm strength, balance, run blocking, leadership, character, awareness
Weaknesses: Recovery speed, foot quickness, agility, hands

Tight end Trey Burton (Group: 3 | Camp: TE03)
Height: 6’2″ | Weight: 224 lbs.
Arm length: 31″ | Hand size: 9 3/8″

Bench press: Did not participate
40-yard dash: 4.62 seconds (fourth-fastest)
Three-cone drill: 7.14 seconds (second-fastest)
20-yard shuttle: 4.32 seconds (fourth-fastest)
60-yard shuttle Did not participate
Vertical jump: 30.0 inches (third-shortest)
Broad jump: 112.0 inches (second-shortest)

Overview: Whether you want to label him as versatile or simply a player without a position, Burton played all over the field during his time with the Gators. He lined up at quarterback, fullback, running back and wide receiver, serving as a “tight end” at times as a bigger pass catcher in the slot. A member of the 2010 All-SEC Freshman Team, he never had a better overall year than that season– when he scored 12 total touchdowns including six in one game – but did catch 38 passes for 445 yards in 2013. Burton could be selected late on the third day of the draft or not be picked, but he should get a chance to catch on with a team. He could find his way on the field as a special teamer and gadget offensive player.
Strengths: Athleticism, hands, route running, intelligence, character, toughness, durability
Weaknesses: Short arms, size, strength, power, blocking

Defensive tackle Dominique Easley* (Group: 7 | Camp: DL09)
Height: 6’2″ | Weight: 288 lbs.
Arm length: 32 7/8″ | Hand size: 9 3/4″

Linebacker Ronald Powell** (Group: 9 | Camp: LB23)
Height: 6’3″ | Weight: 237 lbs.
Arm length: 32 1/2″ | Hand size: 9 3/8″

Defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy** – Group: 11 | Camp: DB44
Defensive back Marcus Roberson** – Group: 11 | Camp: DB48
