To say that Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain was perturbed with the storylines perpetuated by LSU Tigers‘ administration, players and fans about the Florida-LSU game and its postponement is an understatement. He was down right angry.
McElwain spent that October week, following the postponement forced by Hurricane Matthew, and this game week staying relatively calm about the entire situation, but he did not hold back after Florida shut down LSU on the one-yard line in a 16-10 win at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“How about that?! … Played team on the road for a home game and won the SEC East, didn’t we?!” he said live on SEC Network. “They got some pride. They were called out. We came on the road and won a game. That’s the way it should be.”
He continued: “The incident that happened back then, there were lives involved. This was a game. And we won.”
McElwain went on and on during his press conference after the game.
“This was actually supposed to be a home game so the way we looked at it is stay undefeated at home. We’re 6-0 in The Swamp,” he said. “… It just shocks me that someone would question the Gators. The way I look at it, they got what they deserved. It should have been worse.”
McElwain even took a thinly-veiled shot at some non-believers that root for Florida.
βThe future is bright for the Gators. Iβm happy for the Gator fans who donβt think weβre very good, but all we do is end up back in Atlanta,” he said.
The reaction was equally great from the players on Twitter.
