Florida Gators basketball landed another massive verbal commitment on Tuesday with four-star power forward Jalen Reed (Castaic, CA) committing to join the program’s Class of 2022. He is the second big-time prospect to pledge for the Gators this fall.

Reed (6-foot-10, 220 pounds) committed to Florida over a stout offer list that included Arizona State, Maryland, Oklahoma and Ole Miss. The son of Justin Reed, a former NBA player and All-SEC standout at Ole Miss, the younger Reed is considered one of the most versatile frontcourt prospects in the 2022 class.

It has been quite a fall for embattled head coach Mike White as Florida has landed three commitments all among the top 200 prospects in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite. Most notable among those pledges is five-star PF Malik Reneau (Montverde, FL), the No. 26 overall prospect in the class.

Reed is ranked No. 93 overall and also joins three-star guard Denzel Aberdeen (Orlando, FL), No. 193 overall, as the third member of the Gators’ class.

With Reed in tow, Florida jumped 24 spots to the No. 13 overall class for the 2022, per the 247Sports Composite team rankings. This after the Gators signed only one prominent incoming freshman, four-star G Kowacie Reeves (Macon, GA), as part of the Class of 2021 with White largely relying on transfers to fill out the roster.
